DS Foundation has adopted a village in Amavan block, Rae Bareli, with the hope to make it a model village. Our vision for this project is to make it a fully solar powered, self-sustained village. We want every person in this village to get a basic education and have the skills and ability to be independent and capable of making their own income.
SOME OF THE PROJECTS WE HOPE TO TAKE UP OVER THE YEAR:
- DS Foundationvhas launched a vocational training center in the village for girls and women that are interested in learning how to sew, stitch, do embroidery and other forms of garment making. This center is called ‘Pehchaan’.
- We hope to have a fully solar powered village.
- We hope to clean and beautify the village to recycling all the non-biodegradable trash. We also want to teach them how to segregate their trash and dispose it off accordingly.
- DS foundation is planning to start working with the government irrigation department. While working with rural people,we realised that there is huge gap between supply and demand of water available for irrigation. For this, DS Foundation is planning to promote PIM (Participatory Irrigation management) at the grass root level so that this gap can be minimized significantly.
